Following God's Plan to Discover Your Purpose

Following God's Plan to Discover Your Purpose, bible study, life goals, follow your passion

Many Christians believe that pursuing our goals goes against certain Christian beliefs and counteracts whatever plan God has in store for us.

On the contrary, we believe that the Scriptures support and even encourage us to pursue our goals and achieve success.

Consider this passage from the Bible:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

In Jeremiah, God tells you there is a plan for you: a wonderful and amazing plan. It’s a plan for your prosperity and hope for your future. The key is understanding where and how to find this plan.

God has given you the desire to succeed and manifest His work in this world. Those desires come deep from within your heart. In order to reach them, you must be honest with yourself.

Here are some things to consider that will help you discover the plan for your future. Take time to prayerfully consider these questions and write the answers in your journal.

Following God's Plan to Discover Your Purpose

What is your desire for others?

Your desire for others may unlock the key to God's desire for you. The one thing that bothers you about this world and the people in it may be the very thing you were created to change.

Do you hate poverty and debt? Maybe you are destined to help others gain financial freedom.

Does it make your heart troubled when you encounter a child who isn't reading or writing at grade level? Maybe your purpose is attached to starting a literacy program.

Are you pushing it away?

Is there something nagging at you in the back of your mind that you've been trying to avoid? Bring it to the forefront. Look at it clearly. This may contain God's plan for you that your ego wants to avoid. Your ego is that part of you that wants to follow your will, instead of God's.

Prayerfully consider the things that you've been afraid to do. Purpose is tied to things that are much bigger than we see ourselves. Trust that God will equip you to handle whatever He has destined you to pursue.
